Why the “Return of Romeo” was the best thing to happen to BTSH in Years

He's here.

He’s here.

Well…its Filler Friday, so that means we’re legally allowed to talk about Elves, wrestling and anything else we want. So allow us to go all Deadspin and tell you what you should and should not like.

Should you like Romeo? Of course not. Even Dominic doesn’t really like Romeo. But you should like that he returned and love the way he did it.

This is BTSH. Legends in BTSH aren’t made by their hockey talent or how many PBR Cups they win, they are measured by how much they love and do for BTSH. Take Ellery for example. Ellery hasn’t scored a goal in 4 years, but the guy is a legend because season after season, the guy leads his dumb Capital fan friends to failure after failure. And after Caps heartbreak, its onto Redskins misery. And droves of BTSH players follow his every move.

The teams he plays for never wins, the teams he roots for never wins. He sold his baby so he could buy buttons on his shirt but then sold the buttons for a PBR. Yet this man is BTSH.

The teams he plays for never wins, the teams he roots for never wins. He sold his baby so he could buy buttons on his shirt but then sold the buttons for a PBR.
Yet this man is BTSH.

So what does Ellery have to do with Romeo? Nothing…I just wanted to show the shirtless pic and since I run this site I do what I want you assholes.

Anyways, when $h0wT!m3 decided to promote someone coming to the Rehabs, with post after post…I never rolled my eyes. I joined in. You know why? Joining in and celebrating someone’s effort is a lot cooler than mocking it.

Romeo REturn

I mean stop and think about it for a second. While the rest of us, drove, cabbed, walked, biked, took the subway or jogged to BTSH…Romeo hired a town car to come pick him up, in full goalie gear, and then drove him onto the courts of Tompkins Square Park. (Is that even legal??) Here is the video if you haven’t seen it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhKMiU8iOHo

Romeo says, “Love me or hate me, you have to admit, the entrance was kind of amazing.  I sat in the back of that towncar for 15 minutes, in full goalie gear, watching Craig LaCombe make saves through dark tinted windows. When you’ve played in the league for as long as I have, you kind of want to do something special, something exciting.”

When I told Romeo that he would be given props for the way he unretired, but needled for $h0wT!m!nG, he said, “Thanks, needle away, just know that I created the most awe-inspiring, social-media-buzzing, dramatic and theatrical entrance in the history of BTSH.”

And if you can’t respect and applaud that, you really haven’t gotten the BTSH spirit.

So thank you $h0wT!m3 for promoting and organizing this. You seriously should have a job in promotions, you are that damned good.

And thank you Romeo. It was the best one game retirement in the history of BTSH. Please try to top it.

Thank You Romeo.

Thank You Romeo.
