Drinking You Under The Table Since 2001

Anklebiters 2009

Year Founded: 2001
2008 Regular Season Finish: 4-13 (15th place)
2008 Playoff Result: Lost to Bad Touch in play-in game

2009 Marketing Slogan: “That foot is us!”
Key Additions: Erik Johnson (Free Agent), Sarah Moore (Tuques), Nestor Nonato
Key Losses: None

The last two seasons have not gone well for the Gouging Anklebiters.  Despite a 16th place finish in 2007, they made few changes in the offseason preceding 2008.  As a result, they only managed to move up one spot in the standings, and their season ended after losing to a shorthanded Bad Touch squad in a play-in game.

Sensing that standing pat could yield similar results in 2009, captain Phil “Sandy” Donohue was a lot more active this past winter.  First, he successfully brought former ‘Biter Nestor Nonato back to the team after a two year absence.  Nonato will bring a jolt of energy to the sometimes pedestrian ‘Biters attack.  Second, Donohue added BTSH veteran Sarah Moore, who transferred from the Tuques.  Moore is hoping for a better fit with her new team and potentially more media exposure.  Finally, Donohue signed free agent Erik Johnson (though not this Erik Johnson, we think), who reportedly grew up playing with New Jersey Devils forward Zach Parise.  According to Donohue, Johnson is “pretty awesome.”

Food They Closely Resemble: Beer. Often bubbly, always good for a party, and usually found in bars, they are well-liked by just about everyone (except maybe that one stout…which is more of an acquired taste).   Unfortunately, all of the good times often preclude people from regarding them in a serious manner.
