Filthy Gorgeous’ run of success continued in 2009 with the team collecting 15 wins in the regular season and advancing to the quarterfinals of the playoffs.  The team was led by the breakout performances of “Gentleman” James Pereira, Sunny Mehra, and Suvin “The Guru” Malik, who combined for 58 goals on the season.  Filthy finished the year with the league’s second ranked offense and led BTSH in goal differential.  These feats are even more impressive considering the team was without the services of Paul “Ashy Larry” Vernon, who did not attend any of their games.  In fact, he hasn’t been on the team for years.

With very little turnover from last season, Filthy Gorgeous has retained a majority of its core.  The team will actually benefit from the de facto addition of defensive stalwart Matthew Novick, who was sidelined last season with an undisclosed injury.  With Novick anchoring the D once again and the return of Filthy’s big three scorers, the team should continue to be a top contender in BTSH.

Other miscellaneous team notes include:

  • Filthy will have new away shirts this year…they won’t be lime green
  • Monica Russo requests that the media stop calling Paul “Ashy Larry” Vernon “Ashy Larry”
  • Matthew Workman does a lot
  • Monica Russo is getting married this year
  • Dana Kravis brings cupcakes to one game a year
  • Monica Russo’s mom brings sandwiches to one game a year
  • Sandwich Day and Cupcake Day are the team’s favorite days of the year

Professional Wrestler They Closely Resemble: Chris Jericho.  There’s unmistakable talent here…perhaps even the best in the league.  However, whenever people discuss the top entities, their name isn’t always brought up.
Fast Fact: Monica Russo thinks her team is amazing.
