Math vs. Hookers

Has there ever been such a perceived mismatch in the semi-finals than Math vs. the Hookers?

Has there ever been such a perceived mismatch in the semi-finals than Math vs. the Hookers?

Keys for the Hookers

1- Outskill Math. I think few would doubt the Hookers are the better team. The Hookers often show up with few subs but it never matters because they don’t work hard, the ball works hard. They just pass the ball to each other like its on a string and are in perfect position so they don’t get tired. Its fun to watch when they aren’t playing against you.

2- Dustin. Last year the Hookers dominated the finals and won easily over the Lbs. 3-0. Except that’s not what really happened. They outplayed the Lbs. but Dustin made 2 sick saves and plenty of other really good ones. Had he let in just one of those goals the Lbs. could have taken over momentum and possibly won the game.

3-  Come close to matching Math’s intensity

Last week when the Hookers won in an epic shootout vs. the Sky Fighters, they celebrated like they just hit an extra point. Don't get me wrong, those purple machines care, they just don't let their emotions get too low or high. But Math is gonna bring it, and if they don't come close to matching their intensity, this could be the biggest upset in BTSH history.

Keys for Math:

Possession isn’t enough

Last week Math outplayed the Elves pretty hard-core. I was on the other side of that beatdown. But the funny thing was, it was only 2-1. I love a good cycle, but against the Hookers and FK, you won't control the ball like you do vs. the other teams. You need to take shots that Dustin can't save.

2- Stalking is good

Did you really think I would run this website for a year and not talk about Jan Erixon? You all disgust me. Anyways, he was my favorite player because of how defensive minded he was. If Lemieux was on the ice, so was Janny. Last week Gil had no time or space. Hell I had no time or space and I haven't scored in 2 years. Play as hard as you did vs. us, and you will be in this game. Play like Jan. (But try to score more)

Prediction:
This is tough. Which is a nod to Math because typically picking the winner between the Hookers and Math is pretty easy. Just go with the Hookers.
The Hookers are just so much better than Math talent-wise, its really tough to go against them. Plus Dustin is probably the best goalie in the league. And I’m not sure Math can stay as focused and aggressive (in a good/clean way) as they were last week.. My heart is pulling for my buddies Derk and Elly to make the finals and play in that game. They deserve it.

But my predictions are based on what my head tells me, not my heart. And my head keeps replaying Langer and Schmidt running all over the place breaking up plays. 2-1 Math.

Other game:
Sorry, Eli was supposed to write it. Hopefully he does.
4-2 Tuques.
