Kelly Buchanan Fundraiser / NHL 94 Tourney

Sunday, June 6th (Click here to pre-register)

Remember when learning a sports video game was easier than learning how to fly an airplane? Remember when the words Super Mario made us think of 100 point seasons not just tortoise shells and mushrooms. It’s time to return to that era for a little old school video game action via Electronic Arts NHL ’94.

On June 6th BTSH will be holding a NHL ’94 charity tournament at the East Village Tavern for Kelly Buchanan. For those of you who don’t know, Kelly suffered a traumatic brain injury while playing street hockey. The effects of her injury have been profound and long lasting and she needs our help. To read more about Kelly’s injury, please visit her website www.kellybuchanan.com.

If you’re not familiar with the “classic status” of NHL ’94, it’s the game everybody used to play instead of John Madden football. IGN.com ranked it #47 on their Top 100 Games of All-Time and it was also named All-Time Greatest Sports Video Game by Boston.com.

Entry fee is $20 and 75% of the proceeds will be going to Kelly. The winner of the tournament will be taking home 25% of the fees minus $20. Second place gets their $20 back.

If you aren’t into NHL 94, do not fear. EVT will offer bar specials with a portion of the proceeds going to Kelly. Let’s be honest, you savages spend most of your paycheck on booze anyway, why not drink to help? If you still feel the desire to risk money for a good cause, we’ll be raffling off door prizes.

The tournament starts at 4pm and first round match-ups will be scheduled around your game times. Click here to pre-register.
