With all due respect to the Hookers and Fresh Kills, and there is a lot of respect due, we wish you guys weren’t playing. No offense. We like you just as much as we like the other teams, but its the Hookers 5th time in the finals since 2007 and Fresh Kills 4th since 2008. We wanted new blood. We wanted Math.

But here is my plea to the rest of us. Show up. Cheer. Boo. And for the love of God. Heckle. 

So let me lay out why you should come.

1- Don’t be a dick. It’s kinda dickish not to come to the finals. You came the whole season long, you know there is going to be a happening party after, if your team was in the finals, you know you would be there. Its the last time you will see all of us for five months, so just come down, have an awesome time and be a dick in person, just not via satellite. 

2- You will never see some of these people again. Over the years we’ve lost some legends. Kehoe,Romeo, Amy Lott. This year is no different. Several BTSHers are $h0wT!m!nG and calling it quits. Creamy, Sven, (Probably Monica) $H0Wt!M3, and I’m sure a few more that I don’t know about. So lets send them off proper because they’ve been a part of this league for awhile, and deserve our respect.

3- Awards ceremony will be MUCH shorter. I fucked up last year by thanking 10 refs. Jesus that was dumb. So I’m going to now thank 11 people so I don’t have to at the ceromony. Bob W., Alex, Intern Nick, Corey, Derk, Hopper, Schuie, $h0wT!me, Sarah T.Without you this league wouldn’t run. These 9 people should not buy a beer the whole night. They volunteered so we didn’t have to. And I’d like to add Eli and  Tim Brown to that mix. Almost every week they opened and closed the joint, and put their games on the backburner so they could tell you what rink you were playing at, or where the ice is. (It’s in the fucking bag people, jesus) So a huge thank you to you 11 and to all the other refs that stepped up throughout the year. I hope you read this here, because I don’t want to get booed off the stage again. (for this anyways)

4- We may not want to watch, but its going to be damn good hockey. 

5- Lastly, and this is really the #1 reason you should come. We know how to party. I mean when we put our collective minds to it, no one out-funs us. Its what makes this league the best league I ever played in. Think about it. How many leagues in NYC…America…hell the world do what we do? At 8 p.m., take a look around. You will see a group of 7 people and they will be from 7 different teams. In every other league I play in, you drink with your teammates and away from the other teams. Here we embrace each other. You can say BTSH has gotten too competitive, too dangerous etc., but I call bullshit. I say BTSH is still fucking awesome, and on Sunday I’m going to heckle the shit out of the Hookers. I’m going to make Hobart on Fresh Kills cry. And I’m going to beat each and every one of you at Skee*T*ball. Especially Julie. Again.
