Around the League – Week 1

Around the League is a new post we’re trying out this season where we recap Sunday’s games with what we’ve heard. We may not capture everything, but we’ll give you what we know.

The Rehabs got revenge on Fresh Kills by allowing no league subs but somehow they used Hicks. This game was worth two points.

Olivier fit in like a glove with Cobra Kai and they handed the Demons their first Katz Division defeat.

The Gremlins and Poutine delivered an exciting game that almost went to a shootout, but with mere seconds left in OT the mighty Poos slipped one in. Mikey and AJ took extra gravy with their meals.

Tarzan swung into action and his Butchers put up a valiant effort against Filthier.  Afterwards it was burgers and suds at Royale (with cheese?).

The Fuzz brushed aside the Hookers 6-1 by playing an aggressive pass game and limiting Miles’ minutes. (Final score was something around 6-3 due to some late garbage.)

The Biters welcomed back Craigers in net, Joe P played his first game in cold weather since . . . that might have been his first and Schuie unretired, again. Together they stopped the new look Sky Fighters (who have some swanky-good talent. Patience, it takes time to gel.).

League prankster, Cat B, scored her first career BTSH goal (!) and got her Rainbows out to an early lead, but Alex EM and his Touches prevailed in the end. (Stay out of the crease, Julie!)

Luke continued to be the butt-end of a stick in the gut of Math and LBS rolled to a head scratching victory. Side note: Shawn fit in nicely with his new squad.

Riots and Gut Rot needed a shootout to settle their squabble with Perko and Gut Rot having the final say. Kuddos to both captains for allowing multiple league subs. (Marcella, hope your hand boo-boo isn’t too serious.)

Karma debuted some new weaponry and their goalie, Steven, posted a strong goose egg.  Mike D never knew he was even on the court, but WTP knew, oh how they knew. (Emily would like to talk to you over by these stairs.)

Note: refs, if you have not done so already, please send your ref sheets to boxscores at btsh dot org.

We’re off for Easter/Passover next Sunday. See everyone in two weeks!
