Three Stars – Labor Day Weekend

How BTSH dreams are born

I had my first BTSH dream this weekend, and it got weird.

I shared a full bottle of Johnnie Walker Double Black scotch with my brother my first night back in Philly.  After finishing the bottle, I fell asleep.  I was not prepared for what then ensued in my dreams.

I was playing for the Rehabs.  We were wearing red instead of black (Sunday alternates?!?).  I could tell it was the Rehabs because nobody showed up until like a minute before puck drop, and our only two girls were Sena and the receptionist from this internship I had back in junior year of college. (Danielle, if you’re reading this I’m not sure why you weren’t there, but we could have used you).

We were up against the Hookers.  For some reason they also had Gabe, who looks weird in purple.  $#0WT!M3 was the goalie, because of course he was.

Also, there were two points in the game where the Hookers were particularly dominating possession against us and we were hemmed in our own end, and in those moments, Gil Valdes from Elves came onto the court — wearing his Elves jersey — as the Hookers’ seventh man* (their net wasn’t empty).  The refs (Glanzer and Derek) did nothing to stop this.

*I think this would be a good rule to try in real BTSH – if a team maintains possession against another team for a full minute without losing the ball, they get Gil on their side for the Gil Valdes power play bonus round.  Tim: file this under my good ideas, along with multiball and three-legged sack race OT.

*** Dream-Gil Valdes, Hookers(?)

I don’t think I’ve ever actually spoken to Gil directly, but my subconscious thinks he is a hell of a hockey player.

Dream-Gil scored both goals during the Hookers’ GVPPBR, and we lost, 2-1.  The receptionist had our goal, because it’s only fitting.  REEEEEEHABBBBBBBBS

** Luisa Mirarararachi, Elves

This is the finished product. It’s a very nice table. I would buy it. I have nothing but nice things to say about this.

Luisa built a really awesome table out of used hockey sticks.  What makes this star worthy is that she was able to take advantage of the kindness and generosity of our humble community to mostly subsidize the materials costs for this project.  Hero move.  Well done, Lu.

* John Walker, Gremlins

John’s not on FB, so I had to dig through the BTSH archives for a file photo

To be perfectly honest, this post probably doesn’t happen if not for him.
