Sept. 21 Previews – Part Two

What The Puck @ LBS Inc.

Nick: It’s been a rough year for WTP as they enter a bit of a rebuild.  It will take some time for the team to come together, but I think they will bounce back nicely next season.  As for this game, they’re running into a LBS squad that is gearing up for the post-season.  I think the Corporation takes this one 5-1.
Eli: LBS, Inc. has used so many players this season that they’ll be happy to get out of this game without any more injuries. But a 3-1 win will be a nice bonus.
Rich: I probably should pick the Lbs. because I am going to try and convince Karstan to play in my Long Island hockey team. But I think WTP is going to win. So torn.
Derek: You could start by spelling Karsten’s name right.  4-1 LBS.

Dark Rainbows @ Mega Touch

Nick: Lots of recognizable faces in this matchup as Julie, Alex, and rookie stud Alok take on Aaron, Ramber (the Rachel + Camber celebrity couple name), and Abby.  The rest of the gang is all there as well, and this should be a spirited contest between two high-energy teams.  I’ll say that Mega wins it for Devlin, 3-2.

Oh, you said Ramber? My mistake...we don't have any pictures for that.

Oh, you said Ramber? My mistake…we don’t have any pictures for that.

Eli: Devlin moved to California. Mega is playing for themselves now, but the Rainbows will take this one, 4-3.
Derek: I think the Rainbows get the solid 4-2 win here.
Rich: Intern Nick, you mention all these players and not mention Bernstein?!?!? This is why you are an intern and no one believes in you. Dammit Nick! Damn you! (Mega wins 3-2)

Butchers @ Gut Rot

Nick: Gut Rot has a better team than their record indicates; they have a favorable division record and currently sit in second place in the Greene Division.  That said, Jeff L. is going to be on the hunt for the scoring title, which the likely rookie of the year still has in reach.  I’m going to go with Butchers, 4-2.
Eli: Gut Rot can’t win the Greene Division, but they can pull off the upset here, 2-1.
Derek: I believe I’m supposed to ref this game, so I probably shouldn’t pick it.  Just let it be known I’m keeping my eye on the Butchers “Legion of Doom” line of Georgine and Mike Mincieli.
Rich: Butchers always make a playoff run. This isn’t the playoffs. Gut Rot 2-1.

Cobra Kai @ Tompkins Square Riots

Nick: Cobra Kai has established itself as a formidable team on any given Sunday, with the twosome of Liam + Sebastian putting up a number of timely goals.  The Riots are a team that have a knack for playing the underdog role, and I feel like they tend to pull out (PULLOUTS!) a victory when the odds are against them.  Let’s put it to the test: I’ll say that Dojo wins 2-0.
Eli: A loss to the Riots earlier in the season sent Cobra Kai into a summer swoon that only ended a few weeks ago. Cobra Kai exacts revenge, 3-2.
Derek: I’m hoping everyone’s seen the 20 Questions post featuring Kai’s Dani Rylan by now…who apparently owns a coffee shop called Rise and Grind.  How was this not the Dojo’s team cheer/slogan the entire season?!  Marketing, dudes!  In the mean time, assuming the Kais find a goalie (is Nicholas permanent now?), they win 4-2.
Rich: I reffed the Riots last week. They said they gave me a C+. As I was leaving, they said they decided they overrated me and bumped me down to a C. Tears are not yet dry.

Poutine Machine @ Gremlins

Nick: Nothing like a divisional battle with playoff seeding on the line, as the Gremlins currently sit two points about Poutine for the fourth spot in the Glanzer Division.  Poutine has some guys who can put the ball in the net, but former-sad Jamie has been a force lately.  I think the Gremlins ride his goaltending to a tight 2-1 victory.
Eli: Rain fears induced schedule quirk here! These teams face off next week, too, but the Gremlins take this one, 1-0.

So Mr. Met is a Gremlins fan?

So Mr. Met is a Gremlins fan?

Derek:
More interesting than the playoff seeding is the potential demotion one of these teams will face.  Poutine currently sits in last place in the division, with the Gremlins right above them.  A Gremlins win clinches the demotion for Poutine, but I say Poutine takes this one 2-1 to make next week a winner take all to stay in the division.
Rich: I think Nick meant to say above instead of about. I would change it for Derk or Elly but after the Intern snubbed Bernstein he is dead to me.
