Disclaimer
Moffo Rink pick-up games and Zogsports are not affiliated with BTSH in any way, shape or form. However, they are good places to meet BTSH players if you are looking to get into BTSH.
Also note that none of following activities are roller hockey leagues. If you are looking for roller hockey, look elsewhere. For ice hockey, check Lasker Rink, City Ice Pavilion, Aviator, The Ice House and Sky Rink/Chelsea Piers.
MOFFO PICK-UP GAMES
There are usually pickup games on Thursdays, weather permitting, which get going around 6pm. Occasionally games are set up on other days also (e.g. holiday weekends). During the summer the Mofo League sometimes plays on weeknights, so be sure to check the scrimmage list beforehand.
To get more info and find out about other game days, sign up on the scrimmage list. Send a blank e-mail to: hockeyscrimmage-subscribe@yahoogroups.com … After you join the Yahoo group you’ll receive e-mails, usually Tuesday, with polls where you can respond yes/no/maybe on whether you’re going.
These scrimmages usually allow stick checking and safe slap shots, but the consensus rules include 1) no checking, and 2) don’t be a dick. If you have questions about these games, please direct them to the scrimmage group.
These games are played at Moffo Rink, in Tanahey Park (Chinatown, near the Manhattan Bridge — click for a map). Take the F to East Broadway and walk south on Pike/Allen, turn right onto Cherry St., then straight for 2 blocks.
MOFO LEAGUE
MOFO Hockey is BTSH’s sibling league and is played at Moffo Rink near Chinatown. This is a competitive, non-checking league with professional refs, using USA Hockey rules. Mofo offers a more physical game than BTSH.
MOFO INDOOR
Mofo In offers 4-on-4 indoor ball hockey over the winter at a large gym on East Broadway at Jefferson, 2 blocks from the F-train.
ZOGSPORTS INDOOR
Zogsports offers indoor floor hockey.
