August 3rd Preview: Part II

Corlears Hookers at Happy Little Elves (by Eli)
Well this should be fun!  The Hookers lead the Brown Division and have the league’s second best record.  The Elves lead the $h0wT!m3 Division and have the league’s best record.  Dustin played the first half of the All-Star Game in goal for the Heels.  Steve played the second half of the All-Star Game in goal for the Heels.  We could go on and on, but we’ll just say that you should show up early to watch this one.  Multiple Glanzers are already confirmed to be in attendance.  And they’ll be rewarded with a 3-2 Elves victory.

This is a not a Glanzer, but it is an Elf.

Derek:
The Elves will want this one more, but I’m not sure that’s enough.  It goes to OT at 2-2, and the Hookers win the shootout.
Rich: Hey…I’ve seen that picture before. Dustin is a no-show as is that Elf holding the net. I just hope the Hookers will have most of their players because we will have most of our guys (not girls though).

La Famiglia at Cobra Kai (by Eli)
If you didn’t know about Cobra Kai before the All-Star Game, you should now. Sebastian Asaro and Liam Martens each scored a goal in the All-Star Game, and Liam leads the team with nine on the season. That’s as many as Denis has scored this year. What gives, Denis? We expected more. Are you really missing the outlet passes from Ant Ventolieri that much? We see Shafiq grudgingly picking up the slack and leading La Famiglia to a 4-2 win.
Derek: Denis was my pre-season prediction to be the 2014 scoring leader, so I say he gets back on track in this game with a hat trick.  5-2 La Famiglia.
Rich: I like these inter-conference games of two skilled teams. I gotta go old school and pick the Tuques 4-3. CK is sorta like the 2010 Tuques. On their way up but not there yet.

Dark Rainbows at Poutine Machine (by Eli)
After back to back games against the Corlears Hookers and Fresh Kills, the Dark Rainbows are thrilled that Poutine Machine is their opponent on Sunday. What’s that? The Rainbows beat the Hookers? In hockey? Are you sure it wasn’t Trivial Pursuit? Wait, yes, it was hockey…Jim Dandeneau will never, ever let us forget that. Or that we are picking Poutine to win this one, 2-1.

Abby Meisterman is a beast at Trivial Pursuit.

Go ahead, see how many you can get right.  It won’t be as many as Abby Meisterman does, though.  She is a beast at Trivial Pursuit.

Rich:  I think the SL is Duke Snider. I’ll go Poutine on this one. And going out with Marilyn Monroe for Frank Sinatra.
Derek: It is Snider.  Those ’55 Dodgers are my favorite team of all time.  I’ll also take Poutine in something low-scoring.  P.S. That history question is worded terribly.

Tompkins Square Riots at Gut Rot (by Eli)
Back in week 5, two guys with short names accounted for all of the scoring, as Max (Riots) and Tom (Gut Rot) each potted a goal in Gut Rot’s shootout win.  While we expect Max to be there on Sunday, Tom is spending the summer with his family at their cottage in the Muskoka region.  So we’ll go with the Riots, 2-1.

Tom is too busy enjoying this to show up for Gut Rot's game.

Derek: I’ll go with Gut Rot, because why not.  3-2.
Rich: So going with Elly’s logic Amy Jones is gonna score but Diane Johnston isn’t? Sounds good to me, 2-1 Riots.

Gremlins at Rehabs (by Eli)
If the Gremlins play the Rehabs and $h0wT!m3 is not on either team, did the game really happen?  Don’t worry if you miss this one, as these teams will go at it again next week (ah, the quirks of the schedule). Rehabs get the win this time, 3-1.
Derek: Tough one to pick.  I’ll say Rehabs 4-3.
Rich: Jamie is Happy as they win 3-0.
