Happy Birthday $howT!m3!
Despite a flurry of activity this past weekend, the most monumental event was easily league side show Hector “$howT!m3″ Melendez’s 26th birthday.  Although many festivities were brainstormed for the occasion, only a handful came to fruition.  $howT!m3 planned on making a grand entrance via car (or cat, we’re not sure) on to the Tompkins courts, but was unable to procure said means of conveyance (even the cat!).  Thus, he was reduced to walking through the gates like a commoner.  Even with this setback, the Rehabs’ victory was the sweetest present of all.

To continue celebrating his birthday and the Rehabs’ win, $howT!m3 planned on holding a 20 person Irish Car Bomb drinking session.  Although he was only able to convince four other people to join him in this endeavor, it didn’t make his birthday any less special.  Love for $howT!m3 was definitely in the air.

Week 3 Preview

It’s Always A Good Time In The Schloeder Division

Amy and Mungo

GAME OF THE WEEK
Mighty Squirrels (1-1) vs. Gouging Anklebiters (2-0)
Location: Tompkins West, 4:00 PM
All-Time Series: Mighty Squirrels lead 4-1-1
Game Notes: The Mighty Squirrels snapped a 12-game losing streak last week with a solid win against Mexican Standoff.  After lying dormant for 75 minutes of play, the Squirrels’ offense finally awoke when Arthur “Lil Weezy” Revechkis scored their first goal of the 2009 season.  Also promising was new goalie Eric Ramirez, who made a splash in his debut, holding the potent Standoff offense to no goals.  With their two victories to open the season, the Gouging Anklebiters are already halfway to equaling their four wins from 2008.  Their latest win, a stunning upset over the Rehabs, proves that the Anklebiters are putting their foot down and can no longer be taken lightly.  The Anklebiters will look to stay undefeated as they face a familiar Schloeder Division foe.
Keys To The Game:
1. Nestor Nonato’s return to BTSH has buoyed the attack of the Gouging Anklebiters.  His offensive prowess has been a key component to their fast start.
2. Despite getting a little dinged up last week (as usual), Mighty Squirrels shutdown defender Marie Marberg is probable for this game.
3.  Eric “El Guapo” DiPierri scored the game-winning goal for the Anklebiters last week.  However, captain Phil “Sandy” Donohue remains steadfast in keeping him relegated to the eighth line.
Eli’s Pick: Gouging Anklebiters.  Another win or two and Charles DeFranco might even start talking some trash.
Derek’s Pick: Mighty Squirrels.  Tim “(S)crappy” Gray has been conspicuously absent so far this season.  This can only mean good things for the Squirrels.

Week 2 News and Notes

Prepare For A White Out

White Out!

The Alpha Male Isn’t Going To Like This One…
Yet another new team uniform was unveiled last Sunday, as Mexican Standoff debuted a hot new look for 2009. In the team’s continuing quest to go incognito this season, Peaches and his crew have toned down the team’s shirt to a very plain white, with a small, modest logo. In addition, the jerseys no longer have player nicknames on the back, as Standoff has gone the New England Patriots route by choosing to highlight the team over individuality. When reached for comment, LBS, Inc. loud mouth “The Alpha Male” Ken Poulin was once again not happy with another team adopting white as its primary color.
