*btsh needs YOU!  especially if you have a car.
from bob w:
“due to malfunction of the gear manager’s car today, he will not be able to
make it to the games this sunday. we need somebody to help with setting up
and closing the games at corlears this sunday. it involves getting the nets
and gear bag from the mini-storage facility near moffo (cherry st. and
catherine st.), bringing the stuff to corlears, helping set it up. and then
at the end of the day, helping to break down the nets and bringing them
back to the storage locker.

if anybody with a car can pitch in and help out, that would be great. it
pays $15 each way. so if you both open and close, it nets you $30. if you
don’t have a car but you have a bike, bob could possibly lend you his
“hockey wagon.”

contact bobw ASAP if you can do it. he leaves town at the crack of dawn
friday, so he will need to get you keys TODAY! email bob at
triagemusic dot com.

we’re really in need of some volunteering this sunday. be a hero and help
bring street hockey to the masses!”

-from ed pfr:
On Saturday June 10th, there will be a street hockey tournament with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

So here are the particulars:
Who:  Anyone over 18 who can play a clean, non-contact game of street hockey for a great cause.
What:  Street hockey tournament with a 3 game guarantee and possible playoff games.
When: Saturday June 10th, registration (signing a waiver and paying the entry fee) begins at 8:30am, the games will start at 9:30am sharp.  Expected ending time will be 4pm.
Where: Tanahey Park/Moffo rink in downtown Manhattan near Cherry and Catherine.
How:  There will be 8 teams.  All players will be randomly assigned as they arrive to the 8 teams to ensure that there is an equal distribution of males, females and talent across the teams.  Within reason and with the consent of team captains, there will be trades permitted to allow friends to play with friends.  There will be two simultaneous games running, one in the hockey rink and one on the basketball courts adjacent to the rink.  There will be 2 divisions with 4 teams each and there will be three 40 minute games round-robin style per team.  This will be followed by a playoff game between the top teams from each division.  If time permits, there will be a semi-final playoff game preceding the finals.

There is a $25 entry fee and that goes directly to the American Cancer Society.

You can register ahead of time at:
http://teamacs.acsevents.org/

Click on „Your ACS Team Event‰, click on „Donate to Team ACS Participant‰ and search under last name „Lau‰.  Please note that the date is incorrect (it’s a webpage problem).  If you donate before 8am on June 10th, we‚ll have a record of donation as your entry fee.

A representative from the ACS will be there to collect the entry fee and hand out tax receipts for those who wish to pay on the day of the event.  A check or credit card info is preferred and can be made out to the American Cancer Society.  Of course you can feel free to donate more.

Please keep in mind that this is a co-ed tournament with differing levels of skill.  The bottom line is that we will be playing for the American Cancer Society, not the Stanley Cup, so aggressive play will not be tolerated.

As this tournament is round robin, you will need to bring a white and a black shirt.

The first games will start at 9:30am sharp in order to get all of the games in within the permit times.  If you show up later, you will still be placed on a team, but you may have missed some playing time.

If you are a goalie, there are only 8 spots available, so please contact Edward Lau (nigeltufnelny at hotmail dot com) or Liza Watts (wattsliza at yahoo dot com) to reserve a spot.  If you are a position player, just show up and we‚ll put you on a team.

-sara unis:

better late than never…btw, if you’re looking for scores corrections, the scores page is totally up to speed.  then get over it.  tee hee!

*week 7 faq
-i’ve played in the league in previous seasons, but i’m not registering until right this second.  does that make me a transfer or just a rolling registrant?
transfers are people who have already registered this season who are switching teams (and need the permission of both their former and future captains, etc, read the registration page), and they pay $8 pp/$5 cash to bob.  if you have played in btsh before but not this season, that makes your registration regular-style, $33pp/$25 to bob, done and done.

for those who have sent me registration info without pp’ing me money, you need to either pay or write both myself and bob to remind bob/let me know that you already paid in person.  i’ve got some forms here without the pp follow up and i’d like to give y’all the benefit of the doubt, but it’s hard.  i’ve been hurt before.

*word on the street
as official league mouthpiece, here’s a not-listing i’ve been asked to spread the word about:

RANDOM STICKS ON THE COURT ARE NOT FREE FOR THE TAKING.
in fact, they have owners, and those owners are fellow btsh’ers how had the forsight to show up at the courts prepared.  they do not deserve to be punished for their planning by having their sticks stolen by that schmuck of the week who didn’t bother to buy a stick yet.  this is the verbose way of saying doesn’t pick up and use sticks that aren’t yours.  thenx!

*kudos/gasface
one each, credited to the author.  i’m that lazy.
Kudos- Rehabs return to the Johnson’s, joining forces with Lbs and forming a league of Justice, drinking, arm-wrestling, singing, love was in the air! - bryan rehabs

gaseface– SB, Please tell people not to steal my stick, and please stick a pin in the voodoo doll that you have of this jackass [ie, the guy who tried to walk off with his stick] [also, i'm still on the road and left my voodoo dolls at home, sorry]. - lessy fk

*registration page is up! alex is allowed to live!
http://www.btsh.org/register/teams/
in order to register, you need a login/pw from a team captain. don’t bother asking me for this info, i’ve already forgotten it, your captain should have it.

*word on the street
as official league mouthpiece, here’s a not-listing i’ve been asked to spread the word about:

COME TO THE JOHNSONS’ SO THEY CAN WELCOME YOU ALREADY, DAMMIT
not enough people hang out at the johnsons after games.  what gives?  yes, it smells, but so do we.  plus the beers are cheap, the music doesn’t suck, and the bartender is rad/gives us free food (look for another free italian feast in june!).  oh, and did we mention you get a free drink with veggie dog next door at dash?  between the two establishments you can get fed, hydrated, and then possibly laid.   there’s really no excuse.

*kudos/gasface
(i didn’t get s’much input, but thenx bob w and brendan h st)
kudos:
-the fk/hm tie, aka, a win/win brennifer bowl
i always find it amusing when couples on different teams play each other and fight, because i’m mean like that, but, since the brendan hm/jenn fk showdown ended in a tie, peace reigned.  dammit.
-DR’s courtside mother’s day
all i’ve been told is that it was “really cute.”  well, duh.  but yay moms, rainbows and otherwise.
-mark mcunis reffing an OT game over playing
it’s always touching when this happens.  which is pretty much never.  viva mark!

the lone gasface:
-rain
i spent saturday at a sheep and wool festival (don’t ask) in the pouring rain.  nothing like a festival to celebrate…damp wool.  the weather report has gone from wet to biblical. make it stop.

*correction
bill tuques was not, as reported last week, hit in the crotch–  he was hit in the knee.  when i was told that he sustained a “lower body injury” (with quotes, just like that), i assumed the messenger was being coy.  i regret the error/any undue attention to bill’s bikini area.

with input from bob w, alicia fk, haanwa mso, and schuie gab.  thenx dudes!
kudos:
-nick mso for being reponsibile for of our first punished public pee
not only did he get a summons for public urination, the cop that busted him was albino!  in a park with no bathrooms, you’d think the law would turn an al-blind-o eye, but no.
-reffing positivity
schuie said that he got an unsolicited reffing compliment on sunday for a game he wasn’t even reffing.  feeling the love!
-4 injury free weeks
all acls, retinas, and ankles remain totally intact so far.  knock on wood.  but not too hard.

gasface:
-whichever cocksmoker gave amy baker a black eye when he pushed her out of the way to score a goal
you heard me.  who did that?  and then refused to even apologize when she called you on it?  are you for real?  are you aware that i’m currently in a state where concealed weapons are legal?  do you want me to put live free or die to the test?  didn’t think so.
-mexican stand-off’s private party
public park, kids.  no dice.  don’t bring in treats unless you’re prepared to share with the rest of the class.
-no pat, no peace
when the equipment manager can’t show, we all suffer.

*new and improved!  registraiton is coming back!
just fyi,
-there are face-off dots at corlears.  nice!
-rosters are now open, so cap’ns, check your inboxes later this week for details, and the page should be up and running later this week.
